COVID-19 Updates from Cleveland City Hall
Coronavirus Prevention & Response: Week in Review

Dear Clevelanders,
As of February 22, the City of Cleveland has administered 16,955 doses of the COVID-19 vaccine. As a reminder, our COVID-19 vaccine call center is available to answer general questions pertaining to the City’s vaccine distribution efforts and assist eligible individuals in scheduling an appointment to receive the vaccine.
To contact the call center, dial (216) 664-2222. The call center's hours of operation are Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Please note that only individuals who meet the Ohio Department of Health's criteria are eligible to receive the vaccine at this time. Due to limited supply, it will take time for eligible individuals to receive the vaccine. We ask for your patience. As we receive additional supply, we will be opening up additional vaccination sites and scheduling appointments for eligible individuals to receive the vaccine.
Here is a snapshot of the announcements made this week:
Feb. 23: In an effort to maintain its commitment to keeping the city clean, reducing waste, and providing quality service for our residents, the City of Cleveland released a Waste Collection and Recycling Report. With consultant, GT Environmental, the City of Cleveland conducted a study to evaluate the solid waste, recycling, and bulk collection programs operated by the Division of Waste Collection and Disposal. The main focus of the study was to understand the City's current operations and develop specific recommendations to improve efficiency, support waste reduction goals and maintain high levels of service. Feb. 24: The City of Cleveland introduced legislation authorizing a joint economic development agreement with the City of Warrensville Heights that will share in the income taxes created by Tremco’s expansion in both cities. Tremco is a construction products manufacturer that has been operating in Cleveland for decades. The City is pleased to support the expansion of a longstanding Cleveland business and looks forward to the continued partnership with Tremco and Warrensville Heights.
Feb. 24: I signed an order extending the City’s Proclamation of Civil Emergency through March 31, 2021. Click here to view the order. Essential services such as Police, Fire, EMS, waste collection and Utilities will remain operational.
Join the City of Cleveland and the Urban Land Institute Cleveland's (ULI) inclusive symposium, "Building the 21st Century City: The Future is now!" on March 2-3, 2021. The symposium will focus on the critical components of the development of cities in the 21st Century and will utilize key actions to identify concrete steps to energize the City of Cleveland and stakeholders to accelerate competitive action steps. I want to congratulate the Greater Cleveland Partnership (GCP) board on their selection of Mr. Baiju Shah as the next president and chief executive officer of GCP. Mr. Shah is the right person at the right time to lead GCP into the future. He understands business, the need to have an equitable economy, and that these ideas are necessary to have sustainable economic growth. Mr. Shah has good relationships and a demeanor that shows he is willing to work with people to get things done. Mr. Shah is a good choice and I look forward to working with him.
As of February 25, there are 324 COVID-19 City resident fatalities and 25,040 cases of coronavirus in the City of Cleveland. I urge all residents to social distance, wash your hands, stay at home whenever possible and wear a mask. Please remember to encourage your friends and family to do their part to protect our most vulnerable residents. Together, we can slow the spread of COVID-19 in 2021.

Thank you and stay safe,
Frank G. Jackson, Mayor
City of Cleveland
