Mayor Frank G. Jackson's Week in Review:

 Updates from Cleveland City Hall

Dear Clevelanders,
The City of Cleveland reported 244 new coronavirus cases for August 1 – August 7, bringing the total to 34,328 coronavirus cases and 527 resident fatalities. View the full report in English here and in Spanish here. I urge residents to stay safe amid the spread of the Delta variant of COVID-19, and to get vaccinated to protect themselves against the virus. To view my video message, click here. Those seeking to be vaccinated can schedule an appointment by calling our COVID-19 Vaccine Call Center at (216) 664-2222.
Here is a look at some of the announcements from this week:
August 9: The City of Cleveland and the Cleveland Metropolitan School District (CMSD) announced that we had jointly issued a second Request for Qualifications (RFQ) to select real estate development project teams for four vacant school buildings and two sites of vacant land. This RFQ comes after an RFQ for 12 vacant school buildings and 7 vacant sites of land was issued in March 2021. The deadline for responses to the RFQ is 5 p.m. EST on Wednesday, September 29, 2021. For more information on this process, click here.
August 9: It was announced that spray parks at City of Cleveland Neighborhood Resource and Recreation Centers (NRRCs) will remain in operation until August 22, 2021 due to projected hot temperatures in the coming weeks. Spray parks will only open on days when outdoor temperatures reach 80 degrees and above. Additionally, since outdoor pools have now closed for the summer season, indoor pools will be open for an expanded schedule beginning August 9, 2021. Hours for indoor pools are 12 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Monday through Friday, 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Saturday, and closed Sunday.
August 10: We announced that the City of Cleveland, the West Side Market and the market’s tenant’s association are hosting Summerfest on Saturday, Aug. 28 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Summerfest will feature live music, artists, children’s activities, food demonstrations by West Side Market vendors and local chefs, and health & wellness programming, highlighting the rich diversity of talents and cultures that exist in Cleveland’s neighborhoods. Cleveland is one of the country’s best food cities and the West Side Market is a destination for both locals and visitors. We will continue to invest in the future of market and look forward to supporting our vendors as they work alongside the community to create a successful event. For more information on Summerfest and the City's work at the Market, click here.
As a reminder, the City of Cleveland launched a Citizen Input Tool to collect citizen input on the allocation of $511 million in funds from the American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA). Residents can submit ideas online or by using drop boxes at City Hall, local NRRCs or at the Public Utilities Building at 1201 Lakeside Avenue.
I invite interested residents to opt in to the new bi-weekly curbside recycling program. Residents must sign up by October 22 via the opt-in form or by calling 216-664-3030 and agree to the recycling program guidelines. View a link to an FAQ sheet on the recycling program. Thank you and stay safe,

Frank G. Jackson, Mayor
City of Cleveland
