浦瑛開講:華裔小説家獲小説奬

   2023年9月28日,華裔小説家 Lan Samantha Chang榮獲2023 年安尼斯菲爾德-沃爾夫小説奬,克利夫蘭基金會組織這次第88屆頒奬盛典。(The 88th AnnualAnisfield-Wolf Book Awards Presented by the Cleveland Foundation)
   第二天還在克利夫蘭亞洲廣場,由美華協會協助舉辦了Lan Samantha Chang見面會活動。當晩主持人是Elaine Tso,華裔小説家 Lan Samantha Chang現場讀了她2022年創作的獲奬小説:《趙家》The Family Chao. 講了她成長過程所見所聞的故事。
   Lan Samantha Chang 表示她非常榮幸和感動她榮獲了2023 年安尼斯菲爾德-沃爾夫奬,這不僅僅是榮譽,還是人們接受了我們的文化和習俗。雖然她出生在美國,但她親眼目睹父母在美國的艱辛努力,讓她上最好的學校接受最好的敎育。


   Lan Samantha Chang是愛荷華州作家工作室主任,她花了十幾年時間創作了《趙家》。它將《卡拉馬佐夫兄弟》的情節移植到虛構的威斯康星州黑文市,講述了經營該鎮中餐館的家庭的故事。
   著名作家喬伊斯·卡羅爾·奧茨的評語是這本小説爲“一部杰出的小説作品”,並表示她最近沒有讀過任何其他如此雄心勃勃或成就斐然的小説。還有麗塔·多夫(Rita Dove)喜歡這本書的多面性。


   2天活動都有現場出售書籍,其中在中國城還有來自明日之星的舞蹈學校的精彩演出,麗華飯店提供了點心和食物,Lan Samantha Chang親自簽名售書。

Lan Samantha Chang (張嵐; pinyin: Zhāng Lán) is an American writer of novels and short stories. She is the author of The Family Chao and Hunger. For her fiction, which explores Chinese Americanexperiences, she is a recipient of the Anisfield-Wolf Book Award, the Berlin Prize, the PEN/Open Book Award and the Rona Jaffe Foundation Writers' Award.
