“How One Small Kind Act Can Create Miracles”
   When a seed is planted, watered and nurtured, it flourishes. So, too, with a seed of kindness. One small, kind act can have a ripple affect and create miracles. This happened recently in a building project in downtown Cleveland on Payne Avenue.
   A local non-profit, Tian Ran Temple, is currently under construction @4320 Payne Avenue. This sacred space is the only the fourth of its’ kind in the United States and will be welcoming people from all ethnicities and religious backgrounds from the local area.
   The Temple is dedicated to teaching the way of the Dao. The Dao is not a religion but infuses aspects of the major religions and spiritual philosophies.Their mission is to share principles built on morality, ethics, mutual respect, kindness and unity to create a more harmonious society.
   There was much effort needed to bring this project to fruition. One of the challenges was that several heavy, fragile items were being shipped from overseas and needed to be transported several times during the construction process. Moving these items would have been extremely costly, however, because of the kindness of a neighboring business, the process unfolded with ease.
   Next door to the Temple there is a local business called Buschman Corporation, headquartered in Cleveland. It is a family-run business and was founded by Tom Buschman in 1977. .Buschman is the metering rod technology expert and premier supplier for the paper and converting industries. They provide niche products in the manufacturing industry. Buschman designs and manufactures custom-engineered metering rods, coating rods, and rod holders.
   One day, aBuschman employee saw some commotion outside the garage of the Temple and a truck with many large pallets. The employee came by on his tow motor and asked if they needed any help. This was the moment the seed of kindness was planted.
   That day, the employee and several of his co-workers starting transferring the items from the delivery truck into the Temple with their equipment. They did this without hesitation and for several hours. This marked the beginning of a wonderful friendship between Buschman Corp. and Tian Ran Temple.
   Several months later, when the Temple needed another move done, Bushman Corporation stepped up again to do the job. Wes Bushman himself, Tom’s son who is also the Operations Manager of the company, led the way.
   He came equipped with a tow motor along with some of their employees to do whatever was needed. Wes Bushman steered the tow motor tirelessly and took great care to ensure everything was moved safely. Tom Buschman also came by to assist and meet some of the members of the Temple.
   “We will always do what we can to help our neighbors, no matter what…It says a lot for our employees. They do whatever they can to help others…” said Tom.
   There are more parallels between the Temple and their new neighbors as well. One of the main messages of Tian Ran Temple is non-violence and eating a plant-based diet and, it turns out,Tom Buschman has been a dedicated vegan for over 8 years. Because of high cholesterol, Tom decided to change his diet and he is now healthier than ever.
   When asked why they decided to help Tian Ran Temple, Tom simply said, “Someone called me….” It is clear that all the Bushman employees emulate their leaders with their caring hearts, humility, dedication and selflessness.
   Tom and Wes Buschman are grateful to see something like Tian Ran Temple being built on Payne Avenue and are hoping for more growth and positive change in the surrounding communities, including China Town. They are also looking forward to participating in the Temple’s activities and sharing it with their families and friends.
   Tom says, “ We need more places like this in our area…one that is welcoming to everyone, no matter what race or religion…”
Along with the classes offered by the Temple, they will host ceremonies and celebrations open to both adults and children. Additionally, there will be cooking classes and education on the benefits of a vegan diet, and living a life of non-violence. The Temple will be imparting positive change not only for adults, but also for the younger generations who will be paving the way in the future. The practices and principles the Temple will be sharing can guide each person how to transform themselves from within and, in turn, contribute to a better world.
   The Temple is now in its’ final stages of completion. There is no question that the impact Tom Bushman and Buschman Corporation has had on it will never be forgotten. It is clear that there is no end to the sprouting that comes from one single seed of kindness.
