Revised: OCA Celebrates 50th Anniversary at

2023 OCA National Convention in Washington, D.C.

Washington, D.C. — OCA - Asian Pacific American Advocates, one of the nation’s oldest AAPI social justice organizations, will be holding its 50th Anniversary National Convention on July 12–16, 2023 at the Capital Hilton in Washington, D.C. The 2023 convention, themed “Organize, Connect, Act!” will bring together thousands of OCA members, leaders, activists, and allies from across the country for five days of education, discussion, celebration, advocacy, and outreach.
“For 50 years, OCA has been the leading AAPI organization in America,” said OCA President Linda Ng. “We are proud to celebrate our golden anniversary in the nation’s capital.”
The National Convention programming includes events such as the OCA Day on the Hill on Thursday, as well as three town halls that will highlight coalition building, equitable access to healthcare and well-being, and civic engagement. Notable speakers for these town halls, and over 20 breakout sessions, include Erika Moritsugu, Helen Zia, Professor Janelle Wong, Curtis Chin, Professor Xiaoxing Xi, and many other government officials, community and academic leaders, and youth organizers.
In addition, OCA will recognize some of the many outstanding individuals that embody the theme of “Organize, Connect, Act!” for their commitment and dedication to serving the Asian American, Native Hawaiian, and Pacific Islander communities. The following awards will be presented at the OCA Awards Gala on Saturday, July 15:
